Someone commented under a friend's activity on Strava that reported him riding 200km up and down steep hills of Kłodzka Valley in Southern, Poland (brevet style). That person admired the physical strain, length of distance ridden on road bike and resistance to weather conditions. At the end of that comment there was: ".... , but why?"
I know why!
Joe Rogan is a popular podcaster who has said that doing difficult things in life can make everything else seem easier. He believes that by pushing yourself to do something hard, you can gain confidence and a sense of accomplishment that can help you tackle other challenges in your life. This idea is supported by research that shows that people who engage in challenging activities are more likely to be successful in other areas of their lives as well.
Q: Why?
A: To do difficult things in life.
Difficult things, larger than me, harder than what I did before. That is my why in this context: that is why I'm shooting silly things like PR's on Strava, or for cycling ultramarathons like Tąpadła 200, I'm collecting proof of me.
